Cascina Biraga is a family-run business in Terranova dei Passerini, in the Lombard lowlands, which, thanks to experience handed down over five generations, is proud to say it makes the best gelato in Italy (Gambero Rosso winner in 2022 and 2023 for its crema flavour).
It doesn't just make gelato: it offers a wide portfolio of farm products, including fruit sorbets, cheeses, desserts and yogurt.
The secret of Cascina Biraga's quality lies in its working method: particular care and attention is paid to the entire supply chain, from selecting the best milk to processing it on the farm, using an artisanal method that preserves all the quality of the raw materials.
This is how, in 2009, a delicious, wholesome gelato was born, made the old-fashioned way with plenty of experience and passion. Precisely because Cascina Biraga creates genuine, superior-quality products, the goal of this project is to carry the values of craftsmanship, goodness and naturalness into its new packaging identity.
To do this, the first step was restyling the institutional logo. The new mark recalls the previous one through its shape, but makes the name more impactful and enriches it with information that conveys heritage and quality, such as the founding date and the claim “Il buon latte” (Good milk), reaffirming the Cascina's specific positioning.
In the gelato line, the logo differs from the mother brand because the claim becomes “il Gelato di latte” (Milk gelato). A varied colour palette was created to identify the flavours, bringing liveliness and taste to the packaging while balancing the natural colour of the tub.
The tub features a kraft-board colour code, the most distinctive element of the new identity for conveying the values above, which also sets it apart from competitors and gives it impact on the shelf.
A kraft tone was chosen for the tub to evoke both the craftsmanship and quality of the product and the sustainability of the technical packaging, made entirely of paper.
